Welcome to the website of the German Association of Wire and Cable Machine Manufacturers (VDKM = Verband der Draht- und Kabelmaschinenhersteller e.V. Deutschland), partner of the international umbrella organization IWCEA
Our Goal
is to promote the common interests of wire and cable machine manufacturers and their suppliers and customers in Germany. We strive to provide advice and support in all professional matters and to bundle the interests of our members in dealings with authorities, public corporations and other organizations and committees. Our main focus is on the coordination, preparation and implementation of exhibitions, symposia and fairs.

1986 The first “wire” show takes place in Düsseldorf, Germany
Foundation of the VDKM, German National Association
One of the initiators and motivators was Dr. Horst Birkmann, back then the CEO of WAFIOS.
The following companies founded the VDKM on November 23, 1988.
Five of the founding members are still active in the VDKM.

Since January 1, 2007 the VDKM (Association of the Wire and Cable Machine Manufacturers) has a new Executive Committee. Due to his age, the founding President Dr. Horst Birkmann no longer stood for election at the general meeting on October 18, 2006. He was elected Honorary President for his extraordinary achievements for the Association. Dr. Gerhard Bartz, the previous Vice President (WAFIOS AG), was elected as the new President. Elected as additional members of the Executive Committee: Heinz Rockenhäuser, Vice President (Niehoff GmbH + Co. KG, Schwabach), Jochen Koch, Treasurer (Ernst Koch GmbH + Co., Hemer), and Egon Reich, Secretary (WAFIOS AG, Reutlingen).

Membership Requirements
Any natural or legal person or commercial partnership can become a member. Membership is voluntary. Associations or organizations can become associated members. They are entitled to participate in the events of the Association. These members receive the technical and economic information determined by the Executive Committee.
